We want to make sure that all our tenants are safe as houses. To protect you and your family, it’s essential that your home has working smoke alarms that are regularly tested.

We’re pleased to say that all homes that are re-wired by Coast & Country automatically receive a hard-wired smoke alarm. As part of your gas safety checks, we will also check that your smoke alarms working, and will fit a new battery-operated smoke alarm free of charge where necessary.

Your smoke alarm

We hope you never need your smoke alarm, but if you ever did, you need to be sure that it’s in good working order. So:

  • Test your smoke alarm every week, by pressing the button firmly until the alarm sounds.
  • If the alarm doesn't sound, change the battery as soon as possible and retest the alarm.
  • If the alarm still doesn't sound, contact us on 01642 771300 and we’ll fit a new alarm in your home.

We’ve been working in partnership with Cleveland Fire Service to raise awareness of fire safety within the home.

Cleveland Fire Service can visit your home to give advice and information about all aspects of fire safety and, if necessary, to fit free smoke alarms. All you need to do is ring Cleveland Fire Service on 01429 874063 to arrange a free fire safety check.

Cleveland Fire Support Network

The Cleveland Fire Support Network is a Registered Charity working alongside and in partnership with the Emergency Services and the Voluntary & Community Sector.
